Munich has 25 Christmas markets in our directory. Confirmed 2026 dates: Münchner Christkindlmarkt at Marienplatz, 20 Nov – 24 Dec 2026. Last season most opened around 24 Nov and the last one closed on 6 Jan 2026; 3 stayed open after Christmas. All are free to enter.
Munich's main Christkindlmarkt fills Marienplatz in front of the neo-Gothic New Town Hall, with a giant Christmas tree and stalls stretching along the pedestrian streets. Beyond the centre, Munich has markets for every taste: the Medieval Christmas Market on Wittelsbacherplatz, the Christmas village in the courtyard of the Residenz, the Pink Christmas market in the Glockenbach district and the Tollwood Winter Festival on the Theresienwiese.
Look out for the giant Feuerzangenbowle — a rum-soaked sugar loaf set alight over a cauldron of mulled wine — and Bavarian treats like Dampfnudeln and roasted almonds.
Sorted by opening date. Dates shown are from the 2025–26 season unless 2026 dates are marked — check the official website before you go.
